Day 4, discouraged

I know its early in my experiment but today I’m feeling kind of sad and discouraged, I lost my RL job today. So I couldn’t really think of a good place or a pertinent point I wanted to make, so I just went to a pretty place and took a picture. I’ve liked the Lula sim since it opened, I think the little village is very cute and charming, so there you are, a simple pic for today.

I also changed my blog theme, I hope to personalize it over the next couple of days.

Day 3, competitive building

One of the things I really loved when I was still fairly new to SL was competitive building. I learned quite a bit about building in SL early on, because I read books on the subject, watched tutorials and just experimented with building quite a bit. I used to play a game back then called Primtionary, where you would build the word clues using prims and it was really fun. Competition builds are kind of like that, only long form. A Speed Build contest typically gives you an hour to build a tableau based on a subject or theme, a contest will probably give you around a week or 10 days to build. Tonight I visited the Dreams sims, where I used to compete and was pleased to see them largely unchanged, still active. They have classes available, a sandbox, free building materials; basically they’re a great source for newbies.

I was super excited to see that they’re just starting one of the long form building contests, for the month of February, and it just started today! So I grabbed a spot and will be participating like I haven’t since early 2010. If you’re interested in building, I urge you to go to Dreams and click on any of the “LOVE” signs for a notecard of the rules, see if you’d like to participate as well! That sculpture is my place holder to claim a spot (that and 50L) and it’s designed off the idea of a Japanese Hanko stamp, it says Ai-su-ru

Day 2, food

I admit, I’m a sucker for a prim lunch. There’s something about it that’s so cute to me, every time I redecorate my house, there’s always a table with some cute food prims on it. One of my favorite places to go for that is Love Soul, everything they make is cute and the food is no exception. The great thing about prim food in SL is that it won’t effect my figure at all, I can still wear the XXS mesh stuff, lol!

365 Project-Day One

I’ve decided to start the 365 project, the same one my friend Ali is doing, in an attempt to blog more and also to do more interesting things in SL. I want to explore and experience and try to recapture some of the wonder I felt as a noob

I thought a good place to start would be with a piece of SL history, given that this year will be the 10 year anniversary of SL (in beta, anyway). The first region was Da Boom and it’s there that I went tonight. I found a rather charming little Linden Playground in the middle of the sim and knew that was my setting.

One of the things I’d like to do in the coming year of posts is explore more about the history of SL. We’re always talking about things like shadows and mesh but I’d like to contemplate the humble cubes and spheres that got us here.

Color Cozy

I’m in love with these newest boots from Lassitude, the Selene boots. I’ve had one color or another on for 2 weeks now I think, lol. They’re mesh of course, because I adore mesh, and they’re just so beautifully made. Old fashioned style, great for the steampunkers, good for the goths, lol but I must say I love these bright colors that help push them in a more indefinable direction. Today’s outfit turned out to be all about color, from the subtle eggplant tones of the Fashism eyes (and best assured I’ll be toward the front of the line to check out IKON once it opens, j’adore) to the bright stripes of my old BP* tights I was feeling very colorful and comfortable.

In other business, I’ve had the Second Life Shoes flickr group land in my lap, literally. So since I’d like to see the group thrive, please consider joining and posting some images there, I’d like it to be without ads from stores though, please. We so excited!

It’s almost time for my friend Ali’s big annual New Years’ Eve Eve party! So excited, she always throws a great party and I love seeing everyone’s party clothes and listening to great music with my friends

Looking back over snapshots, it seems I wore a silvery/white dress two years running, that just can’t fly this year. Had to find something different and cool-this gorgeous kind of tapestry mesh dress from Pixeldolls fits the bill. Unfortunately, the store will be closing on Jan. 1st so if you want this last piece of loveliness from one of SL’s oldest and most beloved creators, you had best move. While there, you need to get her mesh jewelry, marked down to a truly ridiculous 50L. Her sim Port Seraphine has been a favorite destination of mine since I was a wee nooblet and her creations will be sorely missed.

Speaking of shops I miss, I chose to wear this necklace from the closed Kunstkammer and even though the shop has been closed awhile I still find myself doing regular searches for her items because of their stunning quality.

Ice Princess

Hello SL blogosphere! I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus due to illness and some hardware issues but I’m looking forward to doing more blogging now that it’s all straightened out :) One of my favorite SL activities is skating because I can be so graceful and beautiful and do flawless spins and jumps and so my ice skates are rarely leaving my feet these days, I even skate through the shops \o/

Today I have on a bunch of gifts mostly, I love this time of year in SL when creators are so generous with lovely gifts! One of the best for my style has been the dress & necklace from G.Field, it’s so lovely and floaty! Another big thing is happening at G.Field until the 3rd of January, she’s having a big sale on all things that are red or white and you know she makes some of the best and most reasonably priced shoes around so go get some while they’re on sale!

The lovely hat is part of the gift from Donna Flora and it’s so posh I feel like a lost Russian Princess or something. Beautiful job as always from Donna Flora.

The beautiful angelic ring I’m wearing comes from a shop with some amazing jewelry .(Bewildebeest). which will unfortunately be closing on the 12th of January, 2012. I strongly urge you to go pick up everything you can while you can because Coyote Momiji makes some of the most unique and exquisite pieces around and soon they’ll be so much history :( It’s very sad but I know the loveliness will live on, on my fingers, and around my neck <3.

When I started this blog I wanted to sometimes feature parcel designs, as that is one of the SL activities I enjoy most, planning ahead, choosing a theme, shopping for items. It has recently come to my attention that I’ve been neglecting this millieu. This is how I recently re-decorated my parcel.

Crow and Dog

Recently there was a kimono event on the Kyoto sim and I picked up several beautiful new kimono, and coincidentally I have several new gorgeous hair sticks from .( Bewildebeest ). and surely they were meant to go together! Kimono were some of the first things I bought and wore in SL and definitely one of my first SL loves. Today I’m wearing tomoto, one of those adorable little Japanese fashion shops that is worth a visit, as they do western clothes as well as kimono and they do everything beautifully. You have to see the textures of the gauzy parts of their bows to believe them, they’re so delicate and fine. Another great find from the kimono event was the mask shop Flugeln Brise, with these sweet, porcelain-like animal masks, so cute.
